Due to the significant impact of Hurricane Katrina on mail delivery in the southeastern United States,
Hurricane Katrina knocked out power to more than 1 million people from Louisiana to Florida's Panhandle. Officials have
indicated that restoring power could take months. Mail transportation, processing and delivery will be unavoidably affected
and mailings directed to these areas are likely to be delayed. Please plan accordingly.
Suspension of Standard Mail to Storm-stricken Areas
* Effective immediately, the Postal Service is not accepting any Standard A Mail (Letters and Flats) or Periodicals
Mail — from any source — addressed for delivery within the following three-digit ZIP Code ranges: 369,
393, 394, 395, 396, 700, 701 and 704.
This emergency action has been taken as a result of severe facility damage, evacuations and other issues resulting from
Hurricane Katrina.
The Postal Service is now formulating plans to address the handling of Standard Mail already in the mailstream and addressed
for delivery to these eight ZIP Code areas.

Salvation Army Serving Storm
The Salvation Army is currently providing services to storm victims and first responders in the Gulf Coast states.
A $100 donation to The Salvation Army will feed a family of four for two days, provide two cases of drinking water and
one household clean-up kit, containing brooms, mops, buckets, and cleaning supplies
World Vision has already begun responding – sending shipments of emergency supplies, donated by generous corporations
and distributed in partnership with local churches and Christian agencies to children and families in need. Because the supplies
have been donated, your gift will multiply in value to ship and distribute urgently needed items to those who need them the
most.
